Bhiwandi to Get Flyover Along Metro Line 5; Metro Route to Extend Till Ulhasnagar

Bhiwandi

Maharashtra’s Chief Minister has approved an integrated plan to build a flyover alongside Metro Line 5 in Bhiwandi and extend the metro to Ulhasnagar, aiming to ease traffic and improve regional connectivity.

Flyover to Run Parallel with Metro Line 5 in Bhiwandi

The CM confirmed the construction of a new flyover alongside the ongoing Thane–Bhiwandi–Kalyan Metro Line 5. The elevated road will run parallel to the metro trench to significantly reduce traffic congestion in Bhiwandi’s industrial zones. Authorities will also widen adjacent roads to further improve vehicle flow. This dual infrastructure build will proceed in sync to maximize traffic relief.

Metro Line 5 to Extend from Kalyan to Ulhasnagar and Chikloli

Officials will push Metro Line 5 beyond Kalyan, reaching Ulhasnagar and potentially Chikloli near Ambernath. A feasibility study for this expansion has begun, with the goal of shortening travel times for residents in Ulhasnagar, Shahad, and surrounding areas. This move will enhance regional connectivity and ease pressure on local train services.

Coordinated Plan to Boost Bhiwandi Development

The government has allocated separate funding streams for the metro, the flyover, and road-widening projects. The CM stressed simultaneous execution to ensure smoother travel and faster connectivity in Thane district. Officials will also examine modern tunnel options like twin-tunnel or deep-tunnel methods for future expansion.

What Commuters and Businesses Should Expect

This combined infrastructure initiative targets a major traffic bottleneck in Bhiwandi while also advancing public transit in the Ulhasnagar corridor. Commuters can expect faster, safer roads and improved metro access in the next phase of metro construction. Planners aim to execute these changes swiftly to support the area’s growing population and logistics demands.
