The Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), also called the Namo Bharat train, is on track to bring a new era of travel for people across NCR. With high-speed services and direct Metro connectivity, daily commuting is set to become faster and smoother.
Delhi to Meerut in Just 60 Minutes
The RRTS corridor from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Meerut promises to cut travel time to nearly one hour. Trains will run at a speed of up to 160 kmph, with an average operational speed of 120 kmph. This speed will help passengers cover the 82 km stretch quickly, making the service a strong alternative to road travel, where traffic often eats up hours.
Train frequency will also be commuter-friendly, with services available every 10 to 15 minutes. Modern coaches will feature comfortable seating, automatic doors, and safety systems to make the ride hassle-free. Officials believe this system will not only save time but also ease congestion on highways connecting Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut.
Metro and RRTS: A Connected Network
The success of the project also lies in its smart integration with the Delhi Metro. Stations such as Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar, New Ashok Nagar, and Ghaziabad have been planned with direct interchanges. Commuters can switch from Metro to RRTS through footbridges, escalators, and travelators without stepping outside. This design will allow seamless travel across Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut.
Future RRTS corridors towards Panipat and Alwar will also integrate with Metro stations at Kashmere Gate, INA, Munirka, Indraprastha, and Cyber City. This approach ensures that regional and local transit systems work hand in hand to provide better last-mile connectivity.
The Delhi-Meerut RRTS and its Metro linkages mark a major step toward reducing travel time, traffic load, and pollution. With trial runs already progressing smoothly, the service is closer than ever to becoming reality. As the launch nears, commuters across NCR are waiting to experience this transformation in daily travel.
