Telangana’s Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy confirmed that the long-delayed Uppal-Narapally elevated corridor will open to traffic by Dasara 2026. The six-lane, 6+ km flyover, which began in 2017, gained new momentum after the state replaced the contractor and secured Central funding.
Project Gains Speed with Fresh Oversight
During a Wednesday site visit accompanied by Uppal MLA Bandaru Lakshma Reddy and GHMC officials, Venkat Reddy stated that officials aim to finish the corridor in time for Dasara. He noted that they have restarted concrete work from both the Narapally and Uppal ends, and have completed 38 of the 143 pillars so far. The flyover will allow vehicle speeds of up to 100 km/h and cut travel time by at least 25 minutes between Uppal Ring Road and Narapally.
Delays Stemmed from Land and Utility Issues
Officials said the corridor stalled due to land acquisition hurdles, shifting electric poles, and clearing pipelines. Authorities also awaited police approval to clear CPRT land at Medipally. To meet the Dasara deadline, they divided work between two teams tackling segmentation and pillar casting simultaneously.
Second-Longest Flyover to Unburden Commuters
Once complete, this elevated corridor will rank as Hyderabad’s second-longest after the 11.6-km PV Narasimha Rao Expressway. Venkat Reddy said he coordinated with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to revive the project. He emphasized that the state chose a new contractor and now monitors progress closely to avoid future delays.
