Bengaluru-Rishikesh Train: Indian Railways has introduced a direct train service between Bengaluru’s Yeshwantpur station and Rishikesh, starting June 19, 2025. This marks the first-ever straight rail connection between southern India and the sacred city in Uttarakhand.

The service features Train No. 06597/06598, operating on select Saturdays and Mondays each in June and July.

Schedule and Class Options

The train departs Yeshwantpur at 7 AM on June 19, June 26, and July 3. It reaches Rishikesh at 10:20 AM the following day. The return journey departs Rishikesh at 5:55 PM on June 21, June 28, and July 5, and arrives back in Bengaluru by 7:45 PM.

Passengers can choose from AC First Class, AC 2-tier, AC 3-tier, Sleeper, and General coaches. The train also provides onboard catering services and e-catering.

Route and Stops

The route spans major cities including Nagpur, Bhopal, Jhansi, Agra Cantt., Hazrat Nizamuddin, Meerut, Haridwar, and other key junctions. These stops connect travelers across diverse regions.

This route enhances pilgrim and tourist travel. It directly serves yoga and spiritual centers in Uttarakhand and supports scenic tourism for travelers from the south.

Speed and Connectivity Impact

The service runs at a maximum speed of 130 km/h and averages around 47 km/h, including halts. This initiative aligns with wider infrastructure efforts like the upcoming Rishikesh–Karnaprayag Railway, which aims to enhance connectivity further into the Char Dham region.
