Annual FASTag Pass for Private Vehicles Launches on August 15

Annual fastag pass

The government has introduced an Annual FASTag Pass exclusively for non-commercial vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans. The pass costs ₹3,000 and starts on August 15, 2025, offering either one year’s validity or up to 200 national highway trips, whichever occurs first.

Faster Toll Payment, Lower Hassle

This new pass aims to streamline toll payments by eliminating the need to pay at every plaza. Drivers can breeze through highway tolls at a flat rate. Officials expect it to cut traffic congestion at toll booths and reduce waiting time significantly.

How the Pass Works

Eligible vehicle owners can activate the pass via a link on the Rajmarg Yatra App, the NHAI, or the MoRTH websites. It will link to an existing FASTag and cover national highways and expressways managed by NHAI until trip or term caps are reached. After that, users can renew the same pass

Significant Savings for Frequent Travelers

Regular highway commuters may save substantially with this plan. Toll rates can drop to an average of ₹15 per trip, compared to about ₹50 per toll under current rules. The annual pass can provide up to ₹7,000 in savings over standard toll charges.

Exclusive for Private Vehicles

This pass applies only to non-commercial private vehicles, such as cars, jeeps, and vans. Commercial, freight, and other vehicle categories fall outside its scope.

Conclusion:

The ₹3,000 Annual FASTag Pass offers private vehicle owners a cheaper and smoother journey on India’s national highways. With easy activation and no need to stop at toll booths, it marks a significant step in improving highway travel efficiency.
