In a significant move to address persistent traffic congestion on the Pune-Solapur Highway, the Maharashtra state cabinet has sanctioned a ₹5,262 crore project to construct a six-lane flyover between Hadapsar and Yavat. This decision is part of the state’s broader strategy to enhance transportation infrastructure and streamline vehicular movement along this crucial corridor.
What Will the Project Include?
The plan includes:
- A six-lane flyover from Hadapsar to Yavat
- Widening of the 6.5 km stretch between Yavat and Solapur to six lanes
- Expansion of the service roads beneath the flyover to improve access
Who Will Build It and How?
The MSIDC (Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation) will carry out the work. The construction will follow the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, meaning a private developer will build and operate the road and collect tolls for a specific period.
Toll collection will happen through systems like FASTag or GPS-based technology. The toll rates will be revised every three years to stay fair and up-to-date.
Budget, Timeline, and Land Acquisition
The total estimated budget stands at ₹5,262.36 crore. Once the work order is issued, the construction will need to finish within three years.
The government will handle land acquisition before construction begins. Officials also mentioned that landowners will receive compensation after a detailed discussion process.

If the new flyover crosses paths with future projects like the Pune Metro Line, MSIDC will take the necessary permissions and modify the route where required.
This ensures that the flyover doesn’t interfere with other infrastructure plans while staying on schedule.
